Whether you’re new to pastels or looking to sharpen your outdoor painting skills, this class offers a relaxed, supportive environment to grow your artistic practice. Instructor Julie Quick, will guide participants through selecting a composition, building a strong value structure, and using layering techniques to create vibrant, expressive landscapes. You’ll also learn tips on working efficiently outdoors and adapting to changing light.

Raised in Michigan and now based in Nashville, GRAMMY Award-winning Billy Strings is known as one of music’s most compelling artists. Most recently, he unveiled “California Sober,” a collaboration with legendary artist Willie Nelson–his first release since partnering with venerable label, Reprise Records. The collaboration follows Strings’ most recent full-length album, Me/And/Dad, which was released last fall and features Strings alongside with his dad, Terry Barber. The product of a longtime dream, the record features new versions of fourteen bluegrass and country classics that the two have been playing together since Strings was a young child. Billy Strings is nominated for three awards at the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards: Best Bluegrass Album (Me/And/Dad), Best American Roots Song (“California Sober” feat. Willie Nelson) and Best Country Duo/Group Performance (“High Note” with Dierks Bentley).

Red Carpet Premiere: Lexington – Resilience in the Redline

This groundbreaking film explores the social and financial impact of redlining on Lexington’s Black community through the voices of more than 30 residents, leaders, and change-makers across housing, education, arts, and government. It’s a local story with national significance. Witness the resilience, the history, and the future we’re building together during the first public screening of Lexington – Resilience in the Redline! This event is also a fundraiser to support Black Yarn’s next chapter of storytelling, research, and community-rooted action.

Lexington Junior League Charity Horse Show

Created in 1937, to help fund the Junior League’s community works project, the horse show has grown to be the world’s largest outdoor American Saddlebred show and the first leg of the Saddlebred “Triple Crown”. Today, the show attracts approximately 1,000 world recognized competitors from the U.S. and Canada, has raised over four million dollars for charitable and civic organizations in Central Kentucky and generates over five million dollars in revenue for local merchants each summer. The Lexington Junior League Charity Horse Show has truly made a tremendous impact in the Saddlebred industry as well as in our local community. We are proud to be the UPHA Show of the Year Winner for 2018 and the UPHA Chapter 9 Show of the Year for 2022.
