250Lex honors Black History Month

Lexington’s 250th anniversary commission is honoring Black History Month in February.
“250Lex will celebrate, uplift and pay tribute to the many contributions African Americans have made to Lexington,” Mayor Linda Gorton said.
During each month of 2025, 250Lex will focus on different aspects of Lexington. Following Black History Month, March events will be focused on education.
250Lex Commission Member Mandy Higgins said, “As we celebrate Black History Month and our 250th anniversary, it’s a privilege to share Lexington’s incredible history with the public. This month we have something for everyone. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating and honoring our history this month, and throughout the year.” Dr. Higgins is executive director of the Lexington History Museum
