Celebrate the Fourth of July Lexington style
Red, White, and Boom … get ready to celebrate the Fourth of July, Lexington style!
“Lexington loves the Fourth of July, and we’re excited to be bringing back the favorites,” Mayor Linda Gorton said this morning. With the annual patriotic concert, ice cream social, Bluegrass 10,000 and Fun Run, festival, parade, and the fireworks … Lexington will have it all!
“Our Fourth of July celebration is rooted in tradition,” Gorton said. “This year’s festivities will bring our entire community together to celebrate America’s independence alongside Lexington’s 250th birthday.”
Thanks to a continued partnership with R. J. Corman Railroad Group, Lexington’s Fourth of July fireworks will again launch from the company’s railyard, near the corner of Oliver Lewis Way and West Main Street. R. J. Corman makes it possible to have Lexington’s Fourth of July fireworks downtown.
“We are incredibly excited to partner with the City of Lexington once again for this year’s 4th of July fireworks,” said Ed Quinn, President and CEO of R. J. Corman Railroad Group. “This collaboration underscores our dedication to the city and community. We are honored to commemorate this occasion with a spectacular celebration of our nation and the freedoms we enjoy.”
The fireworks will begin at 10 p.m., Friday, July 4. Residents and visitors are encouraged to come downtown for the best viewing experience.
The City’s Fourth of July events are organized and overseen by Lexington’s Division of Parks & Recreation.
“Our five days of Fourth of July events bring our community together,” said Lexington Director of Parks and Recreation Monica Conrad. “Parade participation and festival art market applications are open. We invite community groups to get involved, and help us make this a memorable celebration for all.”
Parks & Recreation, a division of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, oversees the programming, maintenance, and development of over 100 city parks and natural areas, five aquatic centers, three spraygrounds, five golf courses, six community centers, recreational programs, and three arts venues.
